The respected Czech brand in the field of web hosting and domains IGNUM, has changed ownership to the Slovak company WY Group. The acquisition took place last week with the aim of making an impact on the Central European web hosting market.
WY Group is a newly established company under the Slovak investment fund Sandberg Capital. In its short three-month existence, WY Group has managed to acquire the second major web hosting company in the Central European region. The first acquisition is number two on the Slovak web hosting market, Webglobe – Yegon.
„We recognise IGNUM as an established player in the area of domain sales and provision of web hosting services in the Czech market, which has a similar product portfolio and customer base as Webglobe – Yegon. The similarity of these two companies, their internal philosophy and direction convinced us that this would be the right step, and we are glad that IGNUM will ensure WY Group’s entry into the Czech market,“ comments Igor Strečko, CEO of WY Group.
Jaroslav Štětina remains the executive director of IGNUM. „Nothing changes in the current operations of the company,“ he commented on the development of events at IGNUM. „This acquisition represents an opportu-nity for us to further develop our company. Thanks to it, we can build on mutual exchange of know-how and technological solutions with the Slovak WY. Together, we can be more effective towards fulfilling the vision of offering a new generation of web hosting services using current cloud technologies,“ adds Jaroslav Štětina.
Both parties agreed not to disclose and figure regarding the takeover.
