WY Group merges all companies under the Webglobe brand. Plans to continue consolidation of the Czech web hosting market and expands into Serbia
Webglobe, a Slovakia-based web hosting company, enters the Serbian market. Three local web hosting companies, NiNet, Eutelnet and Panet, become a part of its portfolio. „These acquisitions mark the start of our expansion into the Balkans. This region has great potential for the future. While it is a very specific market, our goal is to gradually consolidate webhosting players in Serbia. All three companies perfectly fit into our existing portfolio, and we are very much looking forward to this cooperation,“ says Igor Strečko, co-owner and CEO of Webglobe. This move strengthens Webglobe’s foothold in the region and marks another step towards its goal of building a leading web hosting provider in Central and Eastern Europe.
Webglobe also continues to consolidate webhosting players in Czechia: „We entered the Czech market in 2019 as a no-name company. So far, we have invested over 8 million EUR and acquired seven companies. And we want to continue with our consolidation efforts here,” stressed Igor Strečko, who founded Webglobe in Slovakia 23 years ago.
After the expansion to Serbia, Webglobe now houses 16 brands spread across three markets. The individual brands, that the group has acquired in the past few years, will now be fully integrated under the Webglobe brand, forming a strong webhosting player in CEE with cumulated revenues exceeding 8.3 million EUR last year.
Currently, Webglobe manages over 300.000 domains for over 100.000 customers – in Slovakia, Webglobe ranks number two on the market, in the Czech Republic it ranks as third and it is starting to build its position on the Serbian market.
“By joining forces with other companies and especially with the parent company Webglobe, we can move the level of our services one mile further. A small company has limited development capabilities. After the merger we will be able to bring many new products to our clients, and our services will be backed by a larger and stronger team. We are all looking forward to using these benefits,“ added Dušan Pančevac, owner of Panet, who will strengthen the Webglobe team after the acquisition.
To accelerate future growth, Igor Strečko decided in 2019 to join forces with an investor that shared his vision – the Slovak private equity firm Sandberg Capital. The goal of both, Webglobe and Sandberg, was clear – to build a leading player in the CEE region that will provide a new generation of hosting services by using current cloud technologies.
„We want to offer the latest managed services to our clients. Moreover, we see the future not only in providing hosting itself, but in a wider range of services that will help our clients to grow their businesses and make them even more successful online. Furthermore, in the Balkans, we see a great opportunity for further expansion and the improvement of services,“ adds Jakub Krajčovič, Investment Manager at Sandberg Capital.
Both parties agreed not to disclose the details of this transaction.
